Harris English was born in Valdosta, Georgia, and went to high school at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, where he won a Tennessee individual title and four team titles. He played at the University of Georgia and, while still an amateur in 2011, won a Nationwide Tour event in Columbus, Ohio.
After the 2011 Walker Cup he turned pro and reached the PGA Tour through qualifying school. He won twice in 2013, at the FedEx St. Jude Classic and the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. His best year came in 2021, with the Tournament of Champions in a playoff over Joaquin Niemann and the Travelers Championship on the eighth extra hole, followed by a Ryder Cup appearance.
English won the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines by parring his final 12 holes on a hard weekend, his first title since becoming a father. The one-shot win over Sam Stevens was his fifth on the PGA Tour, coming nearly twelve years after his first, and showed the patience that has carried a long career.
