Robert MacIntyre is a left-hander from Oban on Scotland's west coast, where his father is head greenkeeper at Glencruitten Golf Club and he played shinty as a teenager. He won the Scottish Amateur in 2015, reached the final of the Amateur Championship in 2016 and played in the 2017 Walker Cup before turning professional late that year.
He came up through the Challenge Tour and was the European Tour's top rookie in 2019, the same year he finished sixth on his Open debut. Wins at the 2020 Cyprus Showdown and 2022 Italian Open followed, and he has since become a key figure on Europe's Ryder Cup teams, winning in 2023 and 2025.
His biggest year came in 2024, when he won the RBC Canadian Open with his father on the bag and then the Scottish Open at home. He finished runner-up at the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont, and later that year he added the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the Old Course.
