Ryan Fox

Ryan Fox is from Auckland, the son of All Blacks great Grant Fox and grandson of a New Zealand Test cricketer. He played rugby and cricket at school and did not enter a competitive golf event until after graduating, then studied psychology at the University of Auckland while his amateur career gained pace. He turned professional in 2012.

Fox nearly quit in 2013 before a late-season result saved his Australasian card. He reached the European Tour in 2017, broke through with two wins in 2022 to earn the tour's player of the year award, and added the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in 2023. He is a long hitter with a relaxed, aggressive style.

After moving his base to the PGA Tour, he won the 2025 Myrtle Beach Classic and RBC Canadian Open in playoffs. His defining moment came at Royal Birkdale in 2026, where a third-round 62 matched the lowest score in major history and he won the Open by a stroke, becoming New Zealand's third major champion.
