Tom Kim was born in Seoul to a teaching professional who had played the Buy.com Tour, and his father's work took the family to Australia, the Philippines and Thailand. He won the Philippine Amateur in 2018 and turned pro that year at 15, quickly winning three Asian Development Tour events and then the 2019 Panasonic Open India at 17.
He led the Asian Tour money list for 2020 through 2022, then earned PGA Tour status in mid-2022 and won the Wyndham Championship weeks later despite opening with a quadruple bogey. He won the Shriners Children's Open that October and again in 2023, becoming the first player since Tiger Woods to win twice on tour before turning 21.
Kim's energy made him a crowd favorite at the 2022 Presidents Cup. After a dry spell, he returned to the winner's circle at the 2026 Genesis Scottish Open and later won individual gold for South Korea at the 2026 Asian Games. He plays the PGA Tour full time and sits inside the top 35 of the world ranking.
