Florida
Streamsong in 4 Days
Estimate: Per golfer, 3 nights shared at the Streamsong Lodge plus 4 full rounds and The Chain, excluding flights and caddies. Based on Streamsong's published resort-guest rates: $375 per round October 1–December 14, 2026 and $395 January 14–April 30, 2027, plus $65–$95 for The Chain. Stay-and-play packages have been offered for under $1,700 for 3 nights with all three original courses.
Streamsong is for golfers who want links-style golf without flying to Scotland or Oregon. The courses are built on huge sand dunes left over from phosphate mining, an hour and a half from both Tampa and Orlando, and there's nothing else around.
It works in four days because the courses are close together and each has a different personality: Red is strategic, Blue has the wildest greens, Black is enormous. Bone Valley opens for preview play on October 30, 2026 and officially on January 26, 2027, so a winter or spring trip can include all four.
Day by day
- 1
Arrive, walk The Chain
The ChainDrive in from Tampa or Orlando and play The Chain in the afternoon. It's walking-only and short, perfect after a travel day.
- 2
Red and Blue
Streamsong RedStreamsong BlueRed in the morning, Blue after lunch. They share a clubhouse, so the turnaround is easy. Play Blue second; its greens are more fun once you've seen the turf.
- 3
Black, then the Gauntlet
Streamsong BlackBlack is long and sprawling, so one round is enough. Spend the afternoon on the Gauntlet putting course at the Black clubhouse, or try the bass fishing or sporting clays.
- 4
Bone Valley, then fly out
Bone ValleyPlay the new Kidd course in the morning (from January 26, 2027; before that, check preview availability or replay your favorite of the three). Then drive back to the airport.
The courses
Streamsong Red
Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw · 2012 · Public; lower rates for resort guests
Plays through the same dunes as Blue, with big bunkers and lots of angles to choose from.
Streamsong Blue
Tom Doak · 2012 · Public; lower rates for resort guests
Doak's course has the most dramatic greens on property and plenty of holes routed around the mine lakes.
Streamsong Black
Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner · 2017 · Public; lower rates for resort guests
Par 73 with huge fairways and greens, including a punchbowl at 9. Has its own clubhouse and the Gauntlet putting course.
Bone Valley
David McLay Kidd · 2027 · Check with resort (preview play from October 30, 2026)
The resort's fifth course, opening officially January 26, 2027. Built over ridgelines and natural bowls on the property's fossil-rich ground.
The Chain
Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw · 2023 · Public; first six holes free for resort guests
A walking-only short course. Good for an arrival afternoon or a last loop before the drive out.
Booking it
Lodge guests get lower green fees than day guests (about $50 less per round on the 2026–27 rate sheet), and day guests can only book 30 days ahead. Stay-and-play packages are usually the best value. For Bone Valley, ask the resort about access when you book, since the access rules haven't been published.
Worth knowing
- From December 24 to February 28 all courses are walking-only. Outside that window you can ride, but a group caddie ($60 per player plus tip) is required with a cart.
- A walking caddie is $120 per player on a double bag or $150 on a single bag, plus tip. Worth it on Blue's greens.
- Book morning tee times in late spring and fall to avoid afternoon storms.
- There's no town nearby, so plan on eating every meal at the resort.
